I thank God for the privilege of being raised in a Christian home. I was a member of a Christ centered, Bible believing community church. I asked Jesus to come into my heart at age 9, with my dad by my side. Memorizing Bible verses & hymns, being a leader in my youth group & attending a Bible camp every year was how I spent my time growing up. I loved church, had great Christian friends & wonderful opportunities to grow in Christ. There were some doubts in my early teen years about whether I could know for sure I was a Christian, even though I was surrounded by great Bible teachers.
Finally, as I entered ninth grade, the verses I had memorized as a kid sunk into my heart & mind & confidence in my salvation became real. I became president of the Campus Life club at Hopkins High School & really concentrated on being a witness for Christ. I was a charter member of a guys fraternity with Youth for Christ in the Twin Cities.
Since high school I have gone to Bible College & also studied broadcasting with a desire to reach people for Christ via Christian radio. For many years I was able to pick my own music & share devotional thoughts on the air & received a lot of positive feedback from listeners. Listeners have given me confirmation that God was using my relationship with Him and an on air delivery that was sincere & meaningful & led by His spirit.
After serving the Lord for close to 29 years at KNWC, Northwestern College Radio in Sioux Falls the Lord has led me and my family to MICB and KJCY Radio. My radio career goes back 30 years and includes a year at a secular station in Wisconsin.
I grew up in a suburb of the Twin Cities (Minnetonka/Hopkins area) with parents very involved in the church. My home church was very mission minded & I knew I wanted to be involved someday in helping impact my world for Christ.
God has answered many prayers in leading us to join the MICB team. We had lived in the same home for almost 18 years and ended up finding a buyer in 2 business days, on the 8th of May. The Lord provided a rental home and much needed storage garage on 8th Street. 8 is the Biblical number of New Beginnings and since being hired on the 8th of March it certainly has been true for us.
I love spending time with my family. I married Alice over 23 years ago and recently had a special wedding vow renewal ceremony. My oldest son will stay behind in Sioux Falls to work and go to college. Our youngest son will enter 8th grade this fall in Mason City and has already joined a local baseball team. He is also enjoying the tennis courts next door.
Trusting the Lord day by day is where my heart is (Proverbs 3:5,6). I thank Him for the peace He has given me (John 14:27). I desire to stay in daily fellowship with Jesus Christ (1 John 1:9), trust Him to deliver me from temptation (1Corinthians 10:13), desire to be totally committed to Him so that the Holy Spirit would shine through me for His glory (Galatians 5:22,23) & rest in Him for all my needs (Philippians 4:19).
My desire is to know Christ and make him known, honoring Him by modeling myself after Him in Word, thought & deed, holding my wife and kids a priority next to God in my life, being always in an attitude of prayer & thanksgiving, learning to be content n matter what the circumstances, seeking wisdom, maintaining a healthy mind & body, that I might help others experience a joyful productive life in Christ.
